A photographic journey through the lens of Nicole Kaufman

Last night I went to the LDSS production of Footloose, and it was just AWESOME!!!!!
I happen to have my camera with me as I was at a photo session just before, so I took some pictures throughout the performance.
Hope you enjoy some of my favourite moments in the musical!

This blog is going to be a big teaser from one of this weeks newborn sessions, but I could not resist sharing it with all of you. I have been working really hard in 2012 to do some new poses especially this pose (I think I am at 5 tries).

I need to put a little disclaimer in here, because you all need to know that this is a composite photograph which means I have taken 2 separate photos and placed them together to make one photo.  Newborn safety is very important to me so this pose does not alway work.  Because of the weight of their head on their arms it takes a lot of team work between mom and photographer to get this picture right and safe so there is no pressure on their little bodies.

So without further ado I give you baby Kloey (10 days new), sporting an Ave & Emy Desings head piece.

I have been away from the blog for a while, but thought that this session would be a great way to get back into the swing of things.

I don’t have all the words to express how much this family made me smile during their Smiling Eyes session.  Sandra was recently diagnosed with cancer, and the family wanted to get some photos done with her before she went through her chemotherapy treatments.  There was also a push to get them done as another member of the family was leaving the country in the near future.

I met the family down town Waterloo at the Segram lofts (one of my favourite places to shoot). We did individual families, group shots and even some fun ones. We had so many laughs that you would not have known that the family was dealing with so much.  While I was shooting I felt like I was part of the family.  Everyone had a smile on the whole time, well maybe not the kids ALL the time but for the most part they were all super.

The last picture is Sandra and her SUPERHERO’s. I could tell that this family was strong and close, and with all her little grandchildren it wasn’t hard to get them to be superhero’s and help Sandra fight to get better!!!

I have met a great family, and have kept in contact with them throughout the process. I wish Sandra nothing but the best as she battles her way through. But I know that even on her most difficult days her sunny disposition, smile and strong family connection will keep her strong. There are no words to express the energy and love I felt being a part of this family, if only for a few moments in time. It is my hope that during difficult times Sandra can look back at these pictures and see the vibrant woman/wife/mother/grandmother that she is.  I know first hand that the best gift you can give someone is that of a smile and I know I got one from the session, and the family did too.

Once we finished all the formal pictures we headed out for some fun. I always like having some more relaxing pictures and some silly ones so the girls can become more relaxed and get to know each other a little bit more. Although for once I would love for it to be a little warmer but alas, it is the winter so we sucked it up and went outside for some fun!!!

The compeition takes place this Saturday March the 3rd.  If you are looking forward to the 2012 Paddfest season, why not come out support these young ladies as the KICK OFF Paddyfest 2012.

The end of November and beginning of December was an exciting time for Kaufman Klicks Photography.  I packed up all my gear, checked it twice, and after a few sleepless nights I boarded my first plane and headed to the sunny south. I would like to say Jamaica was absolutely beautiful and I was so inspired while I was there.

Meghan and Brodie’s wedding took place on Wednesday, November 30th, so I had several days to come up with locations for shooting. So many things to choose Beaches, Architecture and Coral.  The wedding took place at the Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort and Spa. For a first time traveller I was amazed at the beauty of this resort.  A beautiful outdoor gazebo wedding overlooking the water with a few clouds and lots of sunshine, was perfect way to join Meghan and Brodie in marriage.  We did a lot of shooting the day of the wedding but also had some fun the day after doing some more intimate photographs with the bride and groom.

I hope you enjoy the photos. I am in love with the different settings that we found and the fun that we all had. I even think I got some great smiling photos of Brodie!!!

Day 2!!!

Thank you Meghan and Brodie for letting me capture your special day. We had lots of laughs, a few tears and lots and lots of LOVE!

There was never a doubt in my mind that this session would not be fun, when the Nuhn’s called me to see if I would photograph their family in Stratford. Stratford is a second home to this family and we had a great time traveling all over.  We only got to a fraction of what Stratford had to offer but we had so much fun exploring. I always love a new location because it gives you a new place to be artistic.   We used architecture, waterfalls,  and even stopped for a little ice cream treat!!! To the Nuhn’s thank you for being my tour guide around the wonderful town of Stratford. I hope you had as much fun as I did!

We had GREAT ice cream from Jenn & Larry’s …. Soo good!!!!!

I like to call the next few photos, Humpty Dumpty sat on a Wall!!! Way too much fun!!!

This post is a long time coming but I am so excited to be sharing one of my first Smiling Eyes sessions in this area.

I have become great friends with this family, as Logan (and now brother Carter) come to me for swimming lessons in the summer.  So for the past 3 years I have been apart of Logan’s journey and was overjoyed when he told me his great news this year at lessons!

Here is Logan’s Story :

At the age of 2 Logan was a really sick boy, after a few days of what the family thought was some kind of flu-bug or possibly pneumonia, they discovered that he actually had a lung infection. After a few more tests were done the family received life changing news. Logan was diagnosed with Leukemia (acute lymphoblastic leukemia) on April 30, 2008. Logan went through 3 years of treatment, taking chemotherapy and other medications.  On July 9th, 2011, Logan completed his chemotherapy treatments, and today he is a happy and energetic 5 year old.

Enjoy the pictures of my fun loving 5 year old friend Logan and his family!!!

Welcome to 2012 everyone!

This is a year that will be filled with many memories for myself and all those wonderful people I have the opportunity to photograph. This is just one of the many couples I have the privilege of capturing their wedding day this year!!

I have been friends with Crystal for years and I was excited when she called me and asked me to be a part of her day. I met Blake, and Crystal downtown Waterloo, and we had a fabulous day exploring new places and getting re-aquainted with each other again.  We also found a purple wall. For those of you who know me you are well aware that PURPLE is my favourite colour, but to make things ever better purple is one of Crystal as well!!!  I am so excited with these photos and cannot wait until October when we will all be together again capturing the first day of your married life!

PS … Make sure you check out her SHOES!!!!!

Baby Jack

I met baby Jack at the NICU ward at London’s Sick kids hospital.  I was happy that I could get down to London to help out a family and capture some pictures of their son.  Jack was such a cutie and sooo good to work with.  Here are a few images from our session. I was lucky that he was sleeping for a lot of the time so we were able to try new things out and use a bunch of different hats (which was awesome because the last few newborns have all been girls!). Jack was 8 weeks old when doing these pictures. He is now home and doing great!

I even got a smile out of Jack. I really LOVE this picture
